Simeon’s prophecy called for the Child to cause the “fall and rise” of many and “a sign … that many people will not accept.”  This was a sign that the Jews, like all of us, needed to drive “self” off the throne of their hearts before they could be lifted up by Jesus.

As Simeon said, the arrival of Jesus caused “the thoughts of many [to] be made known.”  His life revealed the hearts of all, from the Creator to the prince of darkness.  Satan had painted God as selfish, demanding all and giving nothing.  But the gift of Jesus showed the true heart of God.  His hate for sin is as strong as death.  His love for sinners is even stronger.
